Durante la prima serata di Labelexpo Europe a Brussels Expo, sono stati annunciati i vincitori dei Label Industry Global Awards 2023.
Giunti alla 18a edizione, i Label Industry Global Awards riconoscono organizzazioni e individui che si sono distinti nel settore della stampa di etichette e imballaggi attraverso l’innovazione e l’esempio personale.
La giuria dei Label Industry Global Awards 2023 era composta da Philippe Voet, presidente di FINAT; Tim McDonough, presidente di TLMI; Chelsea McDougall, redattrice di Labels & Labeling; Greg Hrinya, redattore di Label & Narrow Web; e Jean Poncet, redattore di Etiq & Pack. La giuria era presieduta da Andy Thomas-Emans, direttore strategico del Labels & Packaging Group.
Quest’anno sono stati assegnati complessivamente sette premi: il Global Achievement Award, il New Global Team Achievement Award, l’Innovation Award (per le aziende fino a 300 dipendenti), l’Innovation Award (per le aziende con più di 300 dipendenti), il Rising Star Award, Premio per la Sostenibilità e al Trasformatore dell’anno.
Il Team Achievement Award è stato introdotto per la prima volta ed è stato assegnato a Mercian Labels e ai suoi partner Screen, CERM e ABG per il loro progetto di trasformazione “a luci spente” della durata di 6 anni. Il premio riconosce l’importanza fondamentale del lavoro di squadra ed è aperto a fornitori del settore, converter e utenti finali.
Lintec Corporation ha vinto il Premio Innovazione per le aziende con più di 300 dipendenti. Questo premio è destinato allo sviluppo di un’innovazione specifica da parte di un fornitore o di un’azienda di trasformazione nel 2022.
La giuria dei Label Awards ha affermato:
“Lintec ha impressionato i giudici con il suo nuovo adesivo a base di poliestere, che contribuirà notevolmente allo sviluppo di un’economia circolare dei materiali, favorendo la separazione pulita dei rifiuti dei contenitori in PET”.
Il premio per l’Innovation Award per le aziende fino a 300 dipendenti è andato a CARTES che ha impressionato la giuria con la sua linea di nobilitazione digitale end-to-end completamente automatizzata, che integra moduli di finitura inkjet, metallizzazione digitale e fustellatura laser. Tommy Schouten ha vinto il Rising Star Award. I giudici sono rimasti colpiti dalla sua grinta e passione per l’ottimizzazione dei processi e il miglioramento continuo, che lo hanno identificato come futuro leader del settore.
Il Premio Sostenibilità è andato a UPM Raflatac, per l’Ocean Action Label dell’azienda, realizzata con plastica destinata all’oceano, che rappresenta un passo importante verso la creazione di un vero mercato commerciale per i rifiuti plastici. Il premio Converter dell’anno è stato vinto da Baker Labels. I giudici sono rimasti colpiti dalla cultura dell’azienda che trasmette ai suoi 112 dipendenti la passione per l’apprendimento continuo, l’inclusività e la partecipazione attiva a un’ampia gamma di iniziative di beneficenza e della comunità locale.
Il premio finale, il prestigioso Global Achievement Award, è andato al fondatore di GEW Malcolm Rae. Il Global Achievement Award riconosce una persona che ha dato un contributo chiave alla promozione e alla crescita del settore delle etichette ed è stato un influencer e motivatore di alto profilo.
La giuria dei Label Awards ha commentato:
“Malcolm Rae è un degno vincitore del Global Achievement Award. Ciò riconosce il suo contributo unico, attraverso GEW, l’azienda da lui fondata, alla transizione del settore della banda stretta verso l’essiccazione UV e al successivo sviluppo tecnologico del settore dell’essiccazione UV”.
Andy Thomas-Emans, presidente della giuria, ha dichiarato: “Siamo rimasti molto colpiti dall’alta qualità dei lavori ricevuti per i Label Industry Global Awards di quest’anno. Vorrei ringraziare tutti coloro che hanno presentato candidature e, a nome della giuria, vorrei congratularmi con tutti i vincitori e finalisti. L’intera gamma di innovazione, energia del team e importanti iniziative di sostenibilità sono emerse appieno durante il processo di valutazione”.
Jade Grace, amministratore delegato di Labelexpo Global Series, ha commentato: “Vorrei congratularmi con tutti i finalisti e i vincitori dei Label Industry Global Awards di quest’anno. Label Industry Global Awards 2023 winners revealed
The winners of the Label Industry Global Awards 2023 were announced during the first evening of Labelexpo Europe at Brussels Expo
Now in its 18th edition, the Label Industry Global Awards recognize those organizations and individuals who have excelled in the label and package printing sector through innovation and personal example.
The Label Industry Global Awards 2023 judging panel consisted of Philippe Voet, president of FINAT; Tim McDonough, TLMI Chairman; Chelsea McDougall, editor of Labels & Labeling; Greg Hrinya, editor of Label & Narrow Web; and Jean Poncet, editor of Etiq & Pack. The judging panel was chaired by Andy Thomas-Emans, strategic director of the Labels & Packaging Group.
This year, there were a total of seven awards: the Global Achievement Award, the New Global Team Achievement Award, the Innovation Award (for companies with up to 300 employees), the Innovation Award (for companies with more than 300 employees) the Rising Star Award, the Sustainability Award and Converter of the Year.
The Team Achievement Award was introduced for the first time and was awarded to Mercian Labels and its partners Screen, CERM and ABG for their 6-year ‘lights-out’ converting project. The award recognizes the critical importance of teamwork and is open to industry suppliers, converters and end users.
Lintec Corporation won the Innovation Award for companies with more than 300 employees. This award is for the development of a specific innovation by a supplier or converter company in 2022.
The Label Awards judging panel said: “Lintec impressed the judges with its new polyester-based adhesive, which will greatly assist in the development of a circular materials economy by assisting in the clean separation of PET container waste.”
The award for the Innovation Award for companies with up to 300 employees went to CARTES who impressed the judges with its fully automated end-to-end digital embellishment line, which integrates inkjet embellishment, digital metalization and laser die cutting modules.
Tommy Schouten won the Rising Star Award. The judges were impressed with his drive and passion for process optimization and continuous improvement which marked him out as a future industry leader.
The Sustainability Award went to UPM Raflatac, for the company’s Ocean Action Label, made from ocean bound plastic, which is a major step towards creating a real commercial market for plastic waste.
The Converter of the Year Award was won by Baker Labels. The judges were impressed with the culture of the company which encourages among its 112 staff a passion for continuous learning, inclusivity and an active participation in a wide range of charitable and local community initiatives.
The final award, the prestigious Global Achievement Award, went to GEW founder Malcolm Rae. The Global Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has made a key contribution to the promotion and growth of the label industry and has been a high-profile industry influencer and motivator.
The Label Awards judging panel commented, “Malcolm Rae is a worthy winner of the Global Achievement Award. This recognizes his unique contribution, through GEW, the company he founded, to the narrow web industry’s transition to UV curing and to the subsequent technological development of the UV curing industry.”
Andy Thomas-Emans, chair of the judging panel said: “We have been very impressed by the high quality of entries received for this year’s Label Industry Global Awards. I would like to thank everybody who submitted nominations and on behalf of the judging panel, I would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists.
